PicsArt Explore Page
Context
PicsArt is an image editing app with a social community. Explore serves as the landing page for all users, where they can discover popular content. However, only 20% of users engage with this page, while the remaining 80% go directly to the editor. We aim to determine the type of content that interests users, identify their needs for the page, and explore strategies to increase engagement.
I am the lead designer of this project, responsible for designing from concept to completion, including user research, mockups, workflows, prototypes, user testing, animation design, documentation, and implementation with the development team.
Project Goal
Redesign the layout to showcase more image content.
Enhance the visual design to highlight image content.
Boost engagement with Explore through tapping, vertical scrolling, and increased time spent on the page.
Delight users with interactive elements.

Too much space is being used for ads. They would like to reduce it and have more image content.
There is too much text and too many colors in the hashtag area, making it difficult to focus on the image content.

Design Process
Layout Redesign
Integrate the banner section into the photo grid to make it appear less like an ad and occupy less space.
Reposition the hashtags section to the top for a cleaner and clearer information architecture (Image > Text > Image VS Text > Image).
With this layout, we can display 33% more image content (8 images compared to 6 images). ((8-6)/6)*100=33%).
Engagement Redesign
According to the data, the tapping rate on the photo grid is 4.6%, the hashtag section is 0.9%, and the banner section is 0.6%. By displaying 33% more image content in the new layout, we anticipate a significant increase in tapping engagement.
To enhance vertical scrolling, I propose a concept called the 'Try It' card, based on user research indicating a preference for image content and the abundance of creatively edited images on PicsArt. This interactive card is inserted into the photo grid. It features a slider that encourages users to reveal the edited effect from an original image.
Hashtags Redesign
Reduce visual clutter caused by bright colors while maintaining PicsArt's branding style.
